Renault Megane Coupe Review

Established in 1897, Renault is one of Europe’s oldest and most respected automakers. The brand has been particularly well-received in the UK where it has had a number of top sellers over the past few decades. But it wasn’t always smooth sailing for the French carmaker.

Renault entered a crowded marketplace in the 1950’s, where companies like Ford and Vauxhall had been dominating for years. But when demand for smaller vehicles increased in the seventies, the company had a series of successes with mini-cars like the R5 and R18.

But it would be another twenty years before Renault would become a market leader with the introduction of their now classic supermini, the Clio. The car was one of the most popular vehicles in the UK for nearly a decade. In the new millennium, the company released the Renault Megane coupe .

Since it was first offered in 2002, the Megane Coupe has been one of the most popular cars in the UK. The reasons for its success are simple: it is both sporty and practical. Yes, it is rare that you can say that a coupe is practical without sounding like a salesman. But with superior fuel economy in both the diesel (42 MPG) and the petrol (37 MPG) versions, it is hard to refute the claim.

The Megane Coupe is also competitively priced at about fourteen-thousand pounds. For a few thousand pounds more Renault also offers a turbocharged petrol version that can accelerate from 0-62 MPH in 7.8 seconds, making it the fastest vehicle in company history.
